Inter omnes.
Twee zaeken boven al met glans den prijs behaelen/
Mijn liefs zeer claer ghesicht/ en PHOEBVS1 gulden2 straelen.
De sterren by de SON geleken zijn maer blendt3/
End’ in haer schoonigheyt en vind’ ick oock geen endt.
De SON die comt daer heen/ haer gouden hooft vertooghen/
Mijn allerschoonste lief heeft Peerlen4 in haer ooghen
Een lief een SON is daer/ daer is oock wel een Maen/
Maer die de SONNE derft5 en isser niet wel aen.

Twee zaken verdienen met glans een prijs: mijn lief haar zuivere gezicht en de gouden stralen van Phoebus. De sterren zijn maar blind in vergelijking tot de zon, en de schoonheid van mijn lief is ook oneindig. De zon komt haar gouden hoofd tonen, mijn allermooiste lief heeft parelen in haar ogen. Er is maar een lief, maar een zon. Er is ook wel een maan, maar wie het zonder de zon moet stellen is er niet best aan toe. |

De maan verduistert de sterren en jij in je eentje alle meisjes; anderen zouden mooi zijn als jij, mooi meisje, er niet was. |
